Welcome Home

There was quite a bit going on last night and this was all before the puck dropped. Once the puck did drop according to Joe Thornton you forget who you are playing against and focus on the task at hand. There was no lack of focus last night from the top line.

Hometown fans were treated to a fast paced end to end hockey game that had a little bit of everything in it. Great goaltending was at the forefront in this thriller. Both Evgeni Nabakov and Marty Turco were on top of their games last night.

A Class of Their Own

The 2009 induction class into the Hockey Hall of Fame are as deserving as they come. For those having to vote on who goes in each year, the months leading up to the final decision were filled not with sleepless nights. A no brainer if you will. Any hockey fan will recognize the names, Yzerman, Hull, Leetch, Robitaille, and Lamoriello. These names are associated with a great amount of success and history. Some overcame great odds and others are right where many thought they would be. This class could be argued as one of the top ever and have all the numbers needed to back that up.

by Chris Townsend, posted on Sat, Oct. 24, 2009
Meat companies and grocers have been barred from selling ground beef tainted by the virulent strain of E. coli known as O157:H7 since 1994, after an outbreak at Jack in the Box restaurants left four children dead. Yet tens of thousands of people are still sickened annually by this pathogen, federal health officials estimate, with hamburger being the biggest culprit. Ground beef has been blamed for 16 outbreaks in the last three years alone, including the one that left Ms. Smith paralyzed from the waist down. This summer, contamination led to the recall of beef from nearly 3,000 grocers in 41 states.
