AFL is BACK and Growing!

Just this past Friday, the Arena Football League (AFL) held it's 23rd annual championship game, ArenaBowl XXIII in Spokane, Washington. Fans, not only from Spokane, but from around the country, came out to watch the high energy game that is known as arena football. Eventhough the host team Spokane Shock is in one of the smallest arenas in the AFL, the fans presence was definitely felt.
ArenaBowl XXIII was held in Spokane, Washington as the AFL returned to its roots with the team with the best record hosting the event. So, gone is the days of the neutral site game. The league was and is better off without the neutral site games and fesitivities. As costs of such extravagance became out of hand and was one of the factors of many to originally call for the financial woes of the AFL in 2008. Placing the ArenaBowl back with the team that holds the best record and remains in the post season contest, is a strong step in the right direction for the Arena Football League to ensure a much successful and lengthy existence.
The game was televised nationally in high definition by the NFL Network. As it has done all season long, the NFL Network has been televising the arena footbal games in high definition and promoting the return of the AFL after a year off from playing. The partnership between the AFL and NFL Network was the best television in some years for the AFL. The network during halftime had segments explaining a particular rule to explain the game to its normally NFL viewers. Afterall, the AFL is a much faster pace game than its outdoor big brother.
Now keep in mind that the outdoor game and indoor game are two completely seperate games with different goals and rules. The only thing similar is that they are both football.
Up next for the Arena Football League is working with the returning of the San Jose SaberCats, Kansas City Brigade, and Philadelphia Soul; along with the welcoming of the Pittsburgh Power expansion team, and the relocating of the once Alabama Vipers from Huntsville, Alabama to Deluth, Georgia and the becoming of the Georgia Force.
I will have more information right here on the blog at christownsendradio.com with the further developments of the abovementioned teams.
