Will SF 49ers Save Their Season?

The San Francisco 49ers opened the 2010 NFL season with a disappointing loss to division rivals, Seattle Seahawks.  After completing the pre-season undefeated, the 49ers looked as a strong enough team that could possibly go deep into the post-season.  It has now been 3 weeks since the opener and with that the 49ers have not defeated one opponent.  The 49ers have defeats from the hands of Seattle, New Orleans, and Kansas City.

During week 1 action up in the northwest, the 49ers faced their division foes, the Seahawks.  Expectations for the 49ers were to get over the loudness of their fans that have become known as the 12th man, but this should actually be no reason for any loss.  Each time a team is on the road, the home crowd will always be the 12th man.  The 49ers had to start off fast to take the crowd of it.  It did seem to start off that way with an early score; however, the Seahawks swopped in to take over for the remainder of the game and bringing the crowd back.

Coming home for week 2 action, the 49ers faced the defending world champion New Orleans Saints for Monday Night Football.  The 49ers were underdogs going into the game but had high expectations of being able to not only keep up with the Saints, but to actually defeat them.  The game began with what most likely was the key play that changed the eventual outcome, a high snap that went over the head of QB Alex Smith and was knocked out of the endzone for a safety.  After a surprisingly low scoring first half, the offense for both teams began clicking a little more.  The end result of the game was a last second field goal by the Saints that first appeared to be hooking left and may result in a 49ers victory.  But the field goal was tipped and most likely allowed for the ball to barely make it over the crossbar and allowing the Saints to go home with a victory.

Now facing a .500 record, the bright outlook for the 49ers 2010 season has a cloud beginning to form.  The 49ers now faced a surprising Kansas City Chiefs that are undefeated and in first place in the AFC West.  The game was a complete let down on the both the performance and the outcome.  The Chiefs offense and defense just dominated the game and what the 49ers threw at them.  The 49ers would leave back to California with a 0-3 record and the need for some changes to be made immediately.

Upon arriving to their training facilty in Santa Clara Monday morning, a change had been made.  Head Coach Mike Singletary had made an announcement that the 49ers were parting ways with Jimmy Raye as their offensive coordinator and promoted the quarterbacks coach, Mike Johnson to offensive coordinator.    Offensive assistant Jason Michael will take over as quarterbacks coach.  So what is expected for the 49ers is try to salvage this season.
