Super Bowl XLV - Preview

Well the playoffs are completed and the final two have been decided.  Representing the American Football Conference will be the Pittsburgh Steelers.  Representing the National Football Conference will be the Green Bay Packers.  The Super Bowl is going to be held at the 2 year old, Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas.  Two of NFL's historic franchises face off on the biggest stage of the year for the first time.

However, this Sunday's match-up at Cowboys Stadium is sure to be one high quality match-up that we haven't seen for quite sometime in the Super Bowl.  The Steelers will be wearing there road whites, while the Green Bay Packers will be wearing their home green jerseys.  However, in the stands, we should see plenty of yellow to support both teams.

The Steelers have finally announced that two key players for Sunday's game would not participate due to injuries that can't be healed in time.  They are (C) Maurkice Pouncey and (DE) Aaron Smith.  Tomlin said: “It won’.  Obviously he’s a quality player, and how it affects the game, no one knows.  But as far as what we do, we have a plan, and that won’t change.” This is how Tomlin responded for the affect of Pouncey's absence on Sunday, according to the Steelers web site.

Now for the Packers, one key player was added to their injury report and that was (WR) Donald Driver with a quadraceps injury.  His injury kept him to limited practice on Friday.  This was a precautionary measure by Head Coach Mike McCarthy.  While Driver will suit up and play on Sunday.  Meanwhile, (OLB) Frank Zombo continued to work with the first team defense as Erik Walden sat out of team drills with an ankle injury.

I believe that Sunday's game will be worth the watch.  The game will brink back the old tradition of a old school Super Bowl battle.  Two very tough minded and hearted teams that have strong defenses with a solid offensive attack.  The Packers are more known for the balancing act of run and pass, while the Steelers have been known to favor the down the middle and grind it out run attack style of play.

I believe this Super Bowl will first of all start off slow with a strong chance of single digit scoring in the first half.  The second half is where it will be truly known who will have the heart to overcome the others attack and take it all.  So with this all said, my prediction for Super Bowl XLV in Arlington, Texas is: Pittsburgh Steelers 24, Green Bay Packers 20.  The Steelers will come away with their second Super Bowl championship in 4 years due to just that, experience.  The Green Bay Packers are an extremely solid team, but unfortunately they lack this BIG GAME experience.
