Men Are Leaning Out

It's not just women who are leaning out. And this Father's Day, it's time to admit that society won't let us men have it all.

San Jose - (May 12, 2011) The man who has been disliked by the Sharks fans ends up coming away with what would be the game winning and series clinching goal in the third period.  I am speaking of Patrick Marleau.  Marleau got his first point of the series when he made a shot off of a rebound with 7:47 left in the game.    With this shot, the San Jose Sharks would hold off the Detroit attack to win game 7 and move on to the Western Conference Finals.

The Sharks scored the first two goals of the game in the first period.  The first goal was by Devin Setoguchi (12:20) and soon to be followed by Logan Coture (19:01).  Sharks goalie Antti Niemi made 38 saves.  The Sharks would have a 2-0 lead going into the 1st intermission.

Henrik Zetterberg of Detroit would cut the lead in half with a goal of his own 13:10 into the second period.  This goal was a key goal for Detroit to recapture the offensive momentum it would need to overcome the Sharks lead.  However, the ending of the second period would stall their attack.

Going into the third period, San Jose would start off with offensive attack.  They seemed to get their legs back and would a much deserving goal from Patrick Marleau (first point of the series).  This goal would eventually the series clinching goal.  As Detroit would make one more effort to overcome the Sharks by adding another goal by Pavel Datsyuk.  This goal would not be enough as the Sharks would hold off further attacks by the Red Wings.

The San Jose Sharks now move onto the Western Conference Championship Series and travel to Vancouver for a Sunday match up against the Canucks.
