The 2007 first round daft pick out of LSU by the Oakland Raiders, Jamarcus Russell has been released on Thursday afternoon. The report by the Raiders organization is that Jamarcus has been the last to show up and the first to leave for quite sometime and they now are looking to go elsewhere with the quarterback situation. Russell shows a truly lack of intertest in the contributing to the team.
With the acquisitiion of Jason Campbell, the Bay Area media along with some national media, have been pondering the idea that Russell would be soon out in Oakland.
With this situation solved for the Raiders and the Raider Nation, where would be likelihood that Russell would end up? Jamarcus does have a powerful arm and can throw with the best of them. However, since the decision to release Russell by Al Davis, and knowing Davis, this may send up red flags to the rest of the league that Jamarcus Russell could be toxic. Jamarcus will now be battling his bad reputation that has been developed while in Oakland with his lethargic efforts to re-establish his career by changing his heart and dedication to the sport and being a true contributor to whichever team decides to pick him.
